What is Kava?

Kava (Piper methysticum) is a hardy perennial belonging to the pepper family. Kava has been traditionally used in the Pacific Islands for thousands of years in cultural, religious and social gatherings. The root of the plant was chewed, ground or pounded and mixed with water to make a drink. Kava is cultivated throughout the South Pacific and as far north as Hawaii, growing in tropical to sub-tropical climates; with its use frequent, and wide spread.

Kavalactones are the chemicals produced from the kava root that affect the brain and central nervous system.

It helps to relax mind and body and help induce sleep.

Kavalactones, the chemicals produced from the root, provide the health benefits. These chemicals have been shown to reduce convulsions and also contain pain-relieving properties, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.  Kava has also been used to treat attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder or ADHD, migraine headaches, muscle pain, chronic fatigue syndrome, urinary tract infections and certain respiratory tract infections. A study published in the "Canadian Medical Association Journal" in November of 2003 stated that scientific evidence from randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind studies have concluded that kava is an effective treatment for anxiety. 

DIRECTIONS:

Dose (adults):

Take 1 capsule 1 to 2 times daily as needed. Daily usage not to exceed 4 weeks.
