The Chinese methods of preparing powdered green tea were brought to Japan in 1191 by Zen Buddhist monk Eisai. Traditionally used in tea ceremony rituals, matcha tea now has many applications and is an easy way to add phytonutrients to your everyday diet. Importantly, matcha needs to be protected from oxidation to preserve its flavour and quality. DIRECTIONS:

Matcha Tea - Press 1/2 teaspoon matcha tea powder through a small sieve into a bowl. Add 1/4 cup hot (not boiling) water and whisk vigorously for 1-2 minutes until a foam is formed. Pour into a mug and top up with more hot water if desired.
Matcha Latte - Press 1/2 teaspoon matcha tea powder through a small sieve into a cup. Add 1/4 cup hot (not boiling) water and whisk vigorously for 1-2 minutes. Heat 1 cup milk in a saucepan and add 1-2 teaspoons coconut sugar to sweeten. Pour the heated milk into the cup containing the tea. Dust with extra matcha tea powder.
Alternatively, add to smoothies, raw desserts, ice-cream, pancakes and baking.

STORAGE

Reseal pouch and store in a cool dry place or refrigerate for maximum shelf-life.
